[Audacity-users] microphone recording question

Hi.
I've got a question about recording.
on computers running windows 7, there is delays when listening to my
microphone, and then record that with stereo mix, to get Everything
from the computer. both the playback, and the sound from the
microphone if I want to sing something.
On some sound devices I can just turn of the microphone, then go into
the speaker setting, and unmuting the microphone there.
Then I get the sound from the mic without any delays.
Is there a way to record that thing.
It would be nice to know about that.
/Kristoffer

What I want to record is the sound that comes from line in.
on some devices you can go into speaker preferences, then levels tab
and unmuting the microphone there.
Is this possible to record at all?

If you don't see unmuting the mic in Speakers preferences then
you don't have hardware playthrough and there will be a delay
while the mic is pushed through to the output.

If the music you are singing to is a file on the computer, import
the file and overdub-record against that file:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_how_to_s.html#overdub .

If the music is a live stream, then buy a USB device such as these
that can play and record with live monitoring:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html
.

Hi.
I've got the option in speaker preferences to unmute the microphone.
If I do that I can hear my microphone just fine, but can I record this thing?
